Sand-cast H62 brass, tripod

Brass censer, wangtianhou beast

$178

Sand-cast as one piece, so the beast on the lid and the body share a single pour rather than being soldered on afterwards. H62 is 62 percent copper, which casts crisply and takes a patina; the surface is left lightly textured because polishing a sand casting flat only exposes the porosity underneath.

Material
H62 brass (62% Cu, 38% Zn)
Ships in
Moulded pulp, double-boxed
Care
Let it darken. If you want it bright, use a brass cloth on a small hidden spot first — the patina is uneven by design.

Ships from Hangzhou in 2–5 business days. Delivery is typically 7–15 business days to the US and 8–16 to the EU, UK, Australia and New Zealand, customs permitting. Import duties and taxes are charged by your country's customs, not by us, and are payable on delivery. The United States ended its $800 duty-free exemption on 29 August 2025, so US orders now attract duty at every value. The EU introduces a flat €3 duty per item on goods below €150 from 1 July 2026. Where it comes from

The wangtianhou is a beast figure placed on roof ridges rather than a household deity, and it appears on metalwork as a lid finial by way of that architectural use. Sand casting packs a sand-and-binder mould around a pattern, so the same pattern can be reused and each pour picks up the grain of the sand — which is why cast brass has a slightly granular skin that hammered brass does not.
