Cast glass, circular body
Glass censer, smoke grey
$62
A small glass censer for the tea table, cast rather than blown so the wall thickness is even all the way round and the rim is flat enough to sit a cup on. Glass will not take a burning charcoal bed directly — direct heat on one spot is what cracks cast glass, so it is meant to hold a metal cup with the cone inside it.
- Material
- Cast glass, smoke-grey tint
- Ships in
- Moulded pulp, double-boxed
- Care
- Never put burning charcoal straight in. Warm the glass gradually; thermal shock, not flame, is what breaks it.
Ships from Hangzhou in 2–5 business days. Delivery is typically 7–15 business days to the US and 8–16 to the EU, UK, Australia and New Zealand, customs permitting. Import duties and taxes are charged by your country's customs, not by us, and are payable on delivery. The United States ended its $800 duty-free exemption on 29 August 2025, so US orders now attract duty at every value. The EU introduces a flat €3 duty per item on goods below €150 from 1 July 2026. Where it comes from
Cast glass is poured into a mould and annealed slowly; blown glass is worked on the end of a pipe and cools faster. The difference shows at the rim, which stays flat on cast work and tends to thicken on blown work. Smoke grey is a tint in the batch itself, not a coating, so it does not wear off — but it does mean the piece is opaque enough that you see the smoke through the walls rather than into the chamber.
